Biography

Amy established the firm in 2008, and the practice focuses on trademark portfolio management for both domestic and international clients. She advises clients on all aspects of brand development, management, protection, and enforcement, and enjoys providing strategic advice. Amy has expertise in complex clearance and registrability opinions and manages all domestic and foreign trademark filings and prosecution.

Amy has extensive experience in defending and protecting trademark rights in opposition and expungement proceedings, including preparing and negotiating complex settlement agreements and attending cross-examinations and oral hearings. Amy prepares and responds to demand letters and letters of cease-and-desist, and aids in negotiations with respect to trademark disputes.

Amy also specializes in domain name dispute issues and represents clients before the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and the Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA).

In her spare time, Amy enjoys spending time outdoors and participates in many sporting activities, including hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, skiing, snowmobiling, and skating. She is actively involved in her rural community and her church, and she is a strong supporter of women’s empowerment initiatives. Amy is also passionate about astronomy and has a life-long interest in space science and technology. Amy volunteers her time with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada and acts as the President of the Law Society for Carleton University Alumni.
